Anime Tiger Girls:The Tigers had their season come to a screeching halt October 23 at Walsh Jesuit in the University Heights Division I sectional tournament championship.

It took one of the top programs in the country, the young girl Twinsburg football team knock-out of the postseason.
Walsh won 6-0 in his efforts to his 12th District win straight crown. Twinsburg finished 7-9-2 overall this fall.
With a 13-1-3 record, seeded fourth Walsh met top seeded Cleveland Heights Beaumont (12-4-2) on 27 October in the University Heights District was semi-final, but final results are not as of press time available.
“I was very pleased with our post-season satisfied,” said Twinsburg mentor Lauren Wilson. “I think our young team has a bright future and our senior class did a great job this year.”
“I think Walsh has to play even nine of their 10 best field player position of the major college football, so that tells you something about them,” she added. “They have talent and are always strong.”
The Warriors have been crowned state champs four times in the last ten years, and national champs in 2006 and 2000.
Twinsburg, on the other side has some nice young talent, but is still green. For many athletes the Tigers cut opener of their first taste of the season was extra. The Tigers began the game with six athletes who were either newcomers or sophomores.
“We are very young, but these girls were fighting the whole game,” offered Wilson.

A dedicated senior class played its last game. These included defender Ellen Cosmas (captain), defender Rachel Steinberger, midfielder Alli Cook, Molly Albers defender, midfielder Shelby Tozzi, and goalkeeper Emily Garred.
Walsh poured in six goals in the first half against Twinsburg defense and goalkeeper freshman Nicole McGlinchy (nine saves).
Although the Warriors were empty their bank, the Lady Tigers shut out Walsh succeeds in the second half – something that has not happened often this fall.
“I think, will be able to close it, which was in the second half pretty big,” said the coach. “Walsh used his bank, but they still had starters in.”
Sophomore midfielder Sandra Yu scored three goals for Walsh while Brianna Kanz, Kelsey Smigel and Elizabeth Bollinger each scored in the win.
Wilson was excited, an opening was cut to victory over Painesville Riverside on Oct. 20 N there is a convincing 3-0 victory at Twinsburg.
With the entire field, the Tiger offense came alive. Kourtney Paul scored two goals for the Tigers and Cosmas had the other.
“I think the girls attacked the weakside very fast switching, and our pitch was probably the best it has all season,” Wilson said. “We also manufacture fire along the flanks and with our forward line.”
Twinsburg constant pressure on the Beavers (7-6-3) as the Riverside two goalkeepers – Megan Lyden (seven saves) and Stephanie Ponti (two stations) were attacked.
